Summary

In 2021, Airbyte introduced its Configuration API for internal use. However, it was complex and confusing for users. To address this issue, the company built the Airbyte API, designed specifically for user needs. The new API provides a polished view of the platform, making it easier to navigate. Both the official Airbyte API and Terraform Provider are now available on Airbyte Open Source and Airbyte Enterprise. Users currently using the Configuration API can easily transition to the new API as many requests have similar required fields. Official support for the Configuration API will be discontinued by early 2024, with any remaining endpoints replicated in the new API. The Terraform Provider enables engineering teams to interface with Airbyte from their daily development tools and streamlines configuration changes.
