Relay offers a solution for automatically encrypting data sent through its infrastructure, addressing the issue of handling plaintext information. Previously, their Outbound Relay would return responses from third parties, which could include sensitive data requiring encryption before reaching the user's infrastructure. To improve this process, Relay developed response encryption, enabling users to register domains that may return sensitive information and specify fields for encryption in those responses. This enhancement aligns with their Encryption Manifesto, which aims for seamless encryption implementation. When Outbound Relay receives a response, it applies response encryption rules based on domain names, sending these along with the response to E3 for encryption before returning to the application. Existing users with integrated SDKs do not need to alter their code as the encryption rules are automatically applied based on configurations set in the dashboard, thereby simplifying integration and enhancing protection against data breaches.
