"Let's Git Together" was an eight-week initiative by Zed, running from November to December 2025, aimed at enhancing Git integration through community collaboration. This unique contributor program invited users to participate in feature development and issue resolution, resulting in significant improvements, including 66 community contributions, five major features, 28 bug fixes, and 33 additional enhancements. Prominent features included a File History View and a Tree View for the Git Panel, which improved usability and functionality. The program's success was attributed to a curated project board, weekly pairing sessions, biweekly demo days, and rapid feedback, which collectively fostered a productive and engaging environment for contributors. The initiative demonstrated the power of community-driven development and has inspired plans for future focused community sprints in 2026 to continue refining Zed's capabilities.
