Zed, a modern open-source code editor developed in Rust with a GPU-accelerated renderer, is now available for Linux, following its existing availability for macOS. This release was achieved through the collective efforts of approximately 133 contributors, generating around 447 pull requests, and the active participation of the Zed community, especially on the #linux Discord channel, which helped address the challenges posed by Linux's diverse environments. The project acknowledges key contributors for their significant roles in developing essential components like the new renderer and platform implementation and improving integrations with X11 and Wayland. Zed aims to further enhance productivity by expanding support and functionality across different Linux distributions and invites community involvement in debugging, packaging, and extending language support. As part of its growth, Zed is also seeking new team members passionate about software development.
