AI by Zapier incorporates the core capabilities of Zapier Agents—prompt-based instructions, tool calling, reasoning, and autonomous actions—into a configurable step within any Zap, allowing AI workflows to use Zapier’s broader ecosystem of more than 9,000 app triggers, filters, paths, run history, and standard actions. Existing agent components map to AI-step prompts, tool pickers, Zap triggers, webhook-based on-demand runs, Sub-Zaps, and knowledge sources, while users gain model-tier selection, task-based billing, per-tool approval controls, structured mappable outputs, automatic tool suggestions, and unified monitoring through Zap History. The integrated approach enables AI-driven decisions to be combined with deterministic automation steps, helping users apply human review to sensitive actions while retaining autonomous data access and reasoning. Costs are visible per run and can be limited through task caps that pause unusually expensive workflows for review. Users of Zapier Agents can recreate their agents as AI by Zapier steps without starting over, although some knowledge-source integrations and capabilities are still being introduced, with workarounds such as webhook triggers available.
