What is Figma?
Blog post from Zapier
Figma is a browser-based collaborative design platform used to create digital products, marketing assets, presentations, websites, prototypes, and more, with teams able to work simultaneously in shared files. Its suite includes Figma Design for interface and visual design, FigJam for whiteboarding, Slides for presentations, Dev Mode for developer handoff, Draw for vector graphics, Buzz for scalable marketing assets, Sites for publishing websites, and AI-powered tools such as Make and Agents. Users build designs on an infinite canvas using frames, layers, shapes, text, images, auto layout, and reusable components, while comments and sharing permissions support feedback and collaboration. Figma’s Community provides templates and plugins, and its free Starter plan offers basic sharing, templates, and limited AI credits, while paid plans beginning at $16 per month annually provide fuller collaboration and specialized seat types. Although approachable for beginners through templates and tutorials, Figma has a learning curve and is generally better suited than Canva for software and product design, whereas Canva may be faster for simple marketing graphics.
