What is Claude Duet?

Claude Duet is Anthropic’s research-preview, always-on AI agent that monitors connected apps, sends morning briefs and alerts, and performs background tasks through a standalone mobile app or claude.ai. Built on Claude’s latest models, it carries over existing account context and supports text or voice interactions, task management, project templates, app connectors, and a virtual browser for websites without direct integrations. It can read, draft, and prepare work autonomously but requires approval before sending messages, making payments, signing documents, or deleting content, while certain financial actions remain prohibited. Early testing found setup and proactive summaries useful, but noted that background activity can quickly consume shared Claude plan usage limits, the native Gmail connector supports only one account, and the agent may misjudge urgency. Duet is available by U.S. waitlist to Claude Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers at no separate cost during the preview, and Zapier integration extends access to thousands of apps while enabling more predictable recurring automations that can be reviewed, modified, and disabled.
