As SaaS platforms increasingly integrate workflow tools into their products to enhance user retention, they face the challenge of limited third-party integrations. Zapier addresses this issue with its new "action runs" capability in the Workflow API, allowing platforms to access over 30,000 actions across 8,000 apps without building these integrations in-house. This functionality enables users to create complex automations, like sending messages via Slack or saving files to Google Drive, directly within their existing workflows. By embedding Zapier actions, platforms can quickly respond to user demands for new integrations and offer a seamless user experience, thereby opening new revenue opportunities. The action runs feature is set to be generally available by ZapConnect 2025, requiring a commercial agreement with Zapier.
