Choose agentic or managed mode for each Zapier MCP server
Blog post from Zapier
Zapier MCP now lets server owners choose between agentic mode, in which AI agents autonomously discover and use actions across thousands of apps using an individual user’s connected accounts, and managed mode, in which administrators define a fixed set of available actions and can lock specific field values for consistent team use. The selected mode applies to every AI tool connected to that server, while account- and workspace-level app and action restrictions remain active in both modes. Users can switch modes from a server’s Settings tab at mcp.zapier.com; moving to managed mode disables but preserves skills and code actions, while switching back restores them. Because many MCP clients cache tool lists, users may need to refresh their clients after changing modes. Zapier MCP is included with all Zapier plans, although sharing servers with teammates requires a Team or Enterprise plan, and only server Owners or Editors can change modes.
