Reaching 1,000 confidential ERC-7984 transfers per second on GPU

Zama's engineering and cryptography teams have reached a significant milestone by achieving 1,000 confidential token transfers per second (TPS) using their TFHE-rs v1.7 on commodity GPUs, a year ahead of schedule. This achievement is crucial for scaling onchain finance use cases by significantly reducing transaction costs to less than $0.00005. The breakthrough stems from innovations in the programmable bootstrap (PBS) and a new mixed-radix Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), which enhance throughput without increasing latency. The advancement indicates that Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) is no longer a bottleneck for confidential transfers, shifting the focus to blockchain consensus and block times. The TFHE-rs v1.7 demonstrates a 2.6× improvement in throughput over its predecessor on the same hardware, aligning its capacity with existing blockchain networks and enabling new applications in confidential finance.
