Announcing The First Recipients of The Zama Cryptanalysis Grants

Zama has introduced the Cryptanalysis Grant Program to encourage research aimed at testing the resilience of privacy-enhancing technologies through methods such as cryptanalysis, side-channel attacks, and fault injection. Unlike many initiatives that focus on designing cryptographic primitives like Fully Homomorphic Encryption and Secure Multi-Party Computation, this program seeks to fill the gap by incentivizing research into real-world attacks to strengthen the security assumptions of these technologies. Open to academics, PhD students, independent security researchers, and industry practitioners with expertise in cryptanalysis, the program is designed to empower experts to rigorously evaluate secure computation systems. The first round of grant recipients includes distinguished researchers from institutions such as the University of Michigan, Purdue University, and King’s College London. Zama aims for the program to become a permanent fixture, offering flexible scheduling for project evaluations and providing financial support for research costs. The initiative invites further applications, emphasizing its commitment to building stronger and more trustworthy systems.
