Why Yugabyte Joined the Agentic AI Foundation

Yugabyte announced that it has become a Silver Member of the Linux Foundation’s Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), an organization formed in December 2025 to provide neutral governance for open agentic AI standards. AAIF’s projects include Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), Block’s goose, OpenAI’s AGENTS.md, and Google’s Agent2Agent protocol, which collectively address how AI agents use tools and communicate with one another. Yugabyte says its membership aligns with its AI-focused offerings, including YugabyteDB AMP, a serverless multitenant PostgreSQL service designed to provide isolated databases for individual agents, and Meko, an MCP-accessible context engine for persistent memory, shared knowledge, conversation history, and decision traces. The company argues that managing durable agent state, context, and collaboration is becoming a core data-infrastructure challenge, and it plans to help shape related standards through AAIF participation. It also cites YugabyteDB’s Apache 2.0 open-source model and experience in the PostgreSQL ecosystem as reasons for supporting neutral governance, while promoting an AAIF Silicon Valley meetup focused on persistent, context-aware AI applications.
