Summary

I worked on a Change Data Capture (CDC) project at YugabyteDB Managed, abstracting the process to make it more user-friendly. I was excited about the opportunity to contribute meaningfully during my 4-month internship and was impressed by the wealth of knowledge of the interviewers throughout the hiring process. The CDC project aimed to provide users with a simple way to specify database tables they wanted to subscribe to, as well as the destination for their stream, allowing them to focus on other tasks. I implemented functionality to create and delete streams, reconfigure and redeploy the CDC Virtual Machine in case of failures, and supported Kafka Sinks as an endsource, making it extendible to more sources in the future. During my internship, I had a great experience interacting with coworkers in person again, participating in internal Hackathons, and exploring the west coast of the United States.
