Overcoming 5G Data Challenges to Realize Its Potential

Hale Donertasli, Cloud Architect at Rakuten Mobile, presented a talk titled "5G and Data Challenges" where she discussed the innovations that will become possible with 5G's impressive data rate of up to 20Gbps. She highlighted the challenges in enhancing data and network speed and reliability while adopting microservices in the cloud, proposing solutions such as protecting from repeating patterns of partitioning, maintaining balance in the CAP theorem, and defining standards when things contradict. Hale also introduced the 5G Database Common Interface (5G-DBCI), a collaboration between Rakuten Mobile and Yugabyte aimed at defining database specifications for 5G's ultra reliability requirement, and features including data interoperability, service logic, and distributed SQL approach. The talk aims to realize the potential of 5G by overcoming its current data challenges.
