Summary

YugabyteDB 1.0 is a cloud-scale, transactional, and high-performance database designed for modern user-facing applications that require multi-region, cloud-native architecture. It's built on top of a shared-nothing architecture, combining the best of NoSQL and SQL in a single database. YugabyteDB has a pluggable API layer with support for Cassandra, Redis, and PostgreSQL APIs, as well as a document-oriented storage model and distributed ACID transactions. The database is designed to be enterprise-ready, with features like automatic sharding, leader leases, zone-aware data placement, failure detection, and load-balancing. Multiple customers have already deployed YugabyteDB 1.0 in production, including Turvo and Narvar, and the team plans to continue working on functionality, correctness, performance, security, and ecosystem integrations.
