Summary

WireMock has joined the OpenAPI Initiative, aligning its API mocking and testing products with the organization behind the OpenAPI Specification and its broader tooling ecosystem. WireMock already uses OpenAPI for its administrative API, publishes its specification publicly, and offers more than 2,000 reusable mock API templates generated partly through OpenAPI imports and the APIs.guru database. WireMock Cloud extends this support through OpenAPI definition imports, automated mock generation, and interactive documentation, while a forthcoming Developer Portal aims to synchronize mock APIs bidirectionally with their linked specifications. The company expects future OpenAPI capabilities, particularly around request matching, examples, and dynamic responses, to improve mock generation and validation, and it plans to contribute to OpenAPI working groups and community efforts. WireMock also noted its recent $6.5 million seed round, more than 100 enterprise customers, open roles, and opportunities for open-source contributors.
