Windsurf is now Devin Desktop
Blog post from Windsurf
Devin Desktop is the latest iteration of Windsurf, designed to consolidate management of local and cloud agents through a unified command center, offering a Kanban view for streamlined agent interactions. This new platform introduces Spaces for sharing context between agents, supports the open-source Agent Client Protocol (ACP), and accommodates a variety of agents like Codex and Claude, as well as custom in-house agents, in a cohesive interface. It facilitates collaboration across engineering, legal, and design teams by preserving context, thus enhancing productivity. Partnering with Cognition, companies like Ramp and NVIDIA leverage Devin Desktop to manage complex workflows, benefiting from the tool's support for multi-agent coordination and integration with existing workflows. The platform maintains compatibility with Windsurf and VSCode extensions and introduces Devin Local, a more efficient local agent built in Rust, replacing Cascade. Devin Desktop, along with Devin Cloud, CLI, and Review, forms a comprehensive suite that integrates seamlessly across different environments, delivering an enhanced IDE experience while retaining existing plans and features for Windsurf users.
