Remote Indexing and Multi-repository Context Awareness
Blog post from Windsurf
Codeium has enhanced its context awareness engine for enterprise customers by enabling server-side computation and storage of derived information, which improves suggestion quality across larger and multiple repositories. This advancement involves a remote indexing system that allows developers to access indexed repositories for context awareness, regardless of which repository they have checked out. The process for administrators is simplified by requiring only a read access token and parameters for reindexing frequency and garbage collection. Codeium ensures zero-data retention by deleting all code snippets and prompts after inference, and they are exploring alternative deployment options to address varying sensitivities to external persistence. Additionally, Codeium is developing next-generation retrieval systems that go beyond single-shot retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to process existing knowledge more effectively at query time.
