Google Gemini CodeAssist: A Review
Blog post from Windsurf
Amazon CodeWhisperer, following its post-AWS re:Invent announcements, has faced several challenges in its functionality and user experience. While it is available on platforms like VSCode and JetBrains, the tool's quality has been criticized for issues such as producing comments in incorrect languages and failing basic tasks like handling parentheses generation and code merging. Users have experienced frustration due to CodeAssist's tendency to stop generating code unexpectedly and produce syntactically incorrect suggestions. Although there is a larger model available for active requests, it reportedly performs worse in Fill-in-the-Middle (FIM) capabilities. These issues have resulted in a series of poor user experiences, overshadowing the initial positive aspects of the tool.
