Codeium Command

Codeium is launching Codeium Command for Visual Studio Code, a feature that allows developers to instruct the tool to make inline code changes directly within the editor. This feature addresses three types of interactions developers have with tools: flow, discover, and instruct, with Codeium Command focusing on the instruct interaction where the developer knows what needs to be done. By enabling developers to enter instructions in an instruction box (triggered by Ctrl+I or ⌘I for Mac), Codeium Command provides inline diffs and changes, overcoming the limitations of using autocomplete for explicit instructions. This approach eliminates the need for developers to use comment blocks for instructions that are not intended to be part of the codebase, thus enhancing efficiency and natural interaction. Codeium Command uses a more powerful model and is currently available on VS Code, with plans to expand to other IDEs based on user feedback.
