React components in a Webflow CLI roundtrip
Blog post from Webflow
Webflow’s CLI enables bidirectional component sharing between Webflow sites and custom applications, as illustrated by integrating an Astro-based guestbook into an existing site. Using `webflow devlink export`, developers can export defined Webflow components such as navigation and footers as React components along with global styles, then apply scoped CSS and existing Webflow classes to preserve the site’s design without custom styling. The guestbook app, which stores submissions in SQLite, can be deployed through `webflow apps deploy` and mounted under a path such as `/guestbook`, with Webflow Cloud automatically provisioning the declared database. Updates to shared Webflow components require re-exporting and redeploying the application. In the reverse direction, `webflow devlink import` can turn React components into reusable Webflow code components by pairing them with definition files that expose configurable properties in Webflow’s designer, allowing a guestbook submission button to be placed on any site page while sending entries to the deployed application.
