Moving away from Webflow’s legacy Editor

Webflow is set to deprecate its legacy Editor by August 4, 2026, transitioning users to a new system that provides more flexibility and security through different roles and permissions. This change aims to enhance collaboration by moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach, introducing client and limited seats that allow users to perform specific tasks based on their roles, such as Marketer, Content editor, or Reviewer. Starting February 2, 2026, client seats will be available without changes to legacy Editor invites, and by May 4, automatic migration will begin, with legacy Editor users receiving free seats to facilitate the transition. The process provides a structured timeline for freelancers, agencies, and in-house teams, ensuring that users can adapt to the new system while maintaining site functionality. Webflow offers resources and guides to assist users through each milestone, emphasizing a smooth transition and encouraging users to prepare for the upcoming changes.
