How I built my content design portfolio from scratch

After struggling to secure a job in Europe with a PDF portfolio, an Indian-raised designer pursuing a Master's in Strategic Design in Milan decided to create a personalized portfolio website using Webflow, which significantly increased their job prospects. The initial PDF portfolio, shared on platforms like Issuu and Behance, resulted in a disappointing three callbacks from 1,000 applications over six months due to a lack of familiarity with the EU hiring process and competition from local candidates. Faced with imposter syndrome and low confidence, the designer sought advice from peers and undertook extensive research, drawing inspiration from various design fields and resources to develop a compelling web presence. The new website, emphasizing a strategic, narrative-driven approach and leveraging Webflow's no-code tools, led to 36 interviews and multiple job offers within three months. This transformation underscored the importance of adapting to industry expectations, showcasing versatility, and utilizing modern design platforms to stand out in a competitive job market.
