From brief to breakthrough: giving Frontify's product story a pulse with Rive
Blog post from Webflow
Frontify, a brand management platform, aimed to create an interactive and dynamic product story using Rive, a tool typically known for UI animation, to achieve a scroll-driven experience where elements respond and react based on user interaction. The project utilized Rive's runtime-active visuals, which differ from static video playback, to create an engaging and lively experience. Key techniques involved data binding, joysticks, and blend states, which allowed the animations to be controlled by the user's scroll position. The team at OFF+BRAND managed the complexity of the Rive file by structuring components for clarity and using remap to control internal timelines, while trim path and nested inputs were employed to create a sense of continuous motion and seamless transitions. This approach highlights Rive's capability in handling interactive, performance-sensitive projects by efficiently managing file size and complexity, ensuring a fluid user experience.
