The AI-First Database Ecosystem
Blog post from Weaviate
A new ecosystem of smaller companies is driving a "third wave" of AI-first database technology. These technologies utilize natural language processing for search queries and can be applied to various data types, including images and DNA. Many of the software involved are open source, allowing users to customize them according to their needs while retaining control over their data. The third wave focuses on data processed by machine learning models first, which helps in searching through the data more effectively compared to traditional methods. This ecosystem consists of four sub-groups: embedding providers, neural frameworks, feature stores, and vector databases.
