Summary

Vultr has introduced a public preview of its read-only MCP Server, built on the open Model Context Protocol to let AI agents and compatible applications query Vultr cloud environments in plain language. Hosted by Vultr with no installation required, the service connects through a URL, Vultr sign-in, and user-approved access, allowing users to obtain information about compute instances, Kubernetes clusters, billing, networking, storage, databases, and other account resources. Its read-only design prevents it from creating, modifying, deleting, or purchasing resources, and it cannot expose credentials such as passwords or authentication tokens. Access is governed through Vultr IAM, OAuth-based sign-in, organization-specific sessions, and permissions that cause each request to operate as the signed-in user. Separate endpoints for product areas allow customers to limit scope and reduce token use, while compatibility with tools such as Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and Codex, including remote and headless sessions, supports integration into existing workflows. Vultr plans to add further capabilities as it expands AI-agent access and cloud-management functionality.
