Video Client SDK 2.35.1 Release: Promises and Scalable Layer Selection

Vonage Video Client SDK 2.35.1, released on August 20, 2026 for JavaScript, iOS, Android, Linux, and Windows, adds native Promise and async/await support to the JavaScript SDK while retaining full compatibility with callback-based integrations. It also introduces a cross-platform Scalable Layer Selection API for controlling VP8 simulcast and VP9 SVC video layers, allowing developers to balance resolution, frame rate, bandwidth use, encoding workload, and battery consumption for different scenarios. Native SDKs have been upgraded from WebRTC M121 to M145, bringing performance, security, interoperability, and dependency updates, while the Android SDK now targets API level 37 and has been validated for Android 17 behavior changes. The iOS SDK is now distributed exclusively through Swift Package Manager as CocoaPods approaches read-only status, and React Native support will follow after platform-specific integration and validation.
