Vonage has announced that its Video Post-call Transcription API, which uses artificial intelligence to create text transcripts of recorded video calls, has moved from Early Access to Public Beta, allowing users to access the feature without prior permission. The API generates a transcription file after a video call is recorded, providing it as a downloadable JSON file, which includes channel-specific audio transcriptions, confidence scores, and word-level timing. This feature aims to improve record-keeping, customer service, productivity, and data analysis by facilitating note-taking, analyzing sales calls, documenting customer feedback, and creating searchable databases of recorded interviews. A sample application has been developed to help users quickly set up and use this feature, and Vonage is seeking feedback from developers through its Community Slack to refine the API further.
