New Video API 2.33: Client Observability and Platform Updates
Blog post from Vonage
Vonage has released Video API 2.33, which enhances client-side observability, provides granular controls for video quality, and expands platform support to Apple Silicon Macs and Debian 13. This update introduces new metrics and quality events for the Client SDKs, enabling developers to better monitor network and device conditions affecting video sessions, while offering real-time notifications for significant quality changes. Improved tools include APIs for setting publisher resolution and frame rate on the JavaScript Web SDK, and a Publisher Degradation Preference parameter on Native SDKs to manage video quality under constrained conditions. Additionally, full support for Google Chrome on iOS has been included, and the Subscriber Downlink Estimation feature is now generally available to optimize subscription quality based on actual network capacity. These enhancements aim to assist developers in building more efficient video applications and improving user interactions.
