Introducing Silent Authentication Advanced in the Verify API
Blog post from Vonage
Vonage has announced the Alpha launch of Silent Authentication Advanced within its Verify API, representing a significant evolution in identity verification by extending secure, SIM-based authentication to Wi-Fi and VPN environments. This new method eliminates the need for OTPs, enhancing security and user experience by offering a passwordless authentication process that is faster and more resilient to phishing compared to SMS OTPs. The Silent Authentication Advanced uses the GSMA TS.43 protocol for direct SIM-to-network authentication, suitable for enterprise scenarios requiring consistent performance and high security. It complements the existing Silent Authentication Standard, which is IP-based, providing options for different use cases. The rollout is initially available to developers in the USA, with a phased approach starting with a demo and documentation, followed by virtual operator testing and eventual integration with live communication service providers. This initiative allows enterprises to deploy a unified authentication strategy, closing coverage gaps and offering a frictionless user experience.
