Blog post from Vercel
Python on Vercel is now generally available, offering automatic detection and deployment for frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, and FastHTML while running CPython on Linux with Fluid compute for concurrent request handling and traffic-based scaling. The platform aims to provide idiomatic Python SDKs, a unified frontend-backend workflow, and broad compatibility with the existing Python ecosystem, including support for dependency tools such as uv. Vercel Services enables Python backends and JavaScript frontends to be developed, previewed, deployed, and rolled back together, while Vercel Daemons supports long-running workers. Python SDKs provide access to AI models, isolated sandboxes, durable workflows, queues, blob storage, and external API credentials. A sample collaborative notebook application demonstrates these services through a Vite frontend, FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL, Jupyter sandboxes, CDN-hosted published notebooks, real-time queue notifications, and AI-assisted code execution. Vercel also highlights its investment in the Python community through Python Software Foundation sponsorship, CPython maintenance funding, conference sponsorships, and PEP 827, while planning continued improvements to SDKs, runtime performance, and developer workflows.
