Summary

Vantage has introduced a new feature enabling customers to allocate costs by fixed percentages within Virtual Tags, offering enhanced control over cost distribution across teams, applications, or internal financial models. This Percent-Based Cost Allocation allows users to assign static percentages directly to tag values, providing a straightforward method for organizations with predefined or negotiated internal allocations that do not rely on external metrics. Previously, allocations were based on Business-Metric or Cost-Based methods, which assumed dynamic external drivers. Now, customers can filter costs, select tag values, and attribute fixed percentages, with allocations reflected in Cost Reports for chargeback and showback. This feature is available at no additional cost and can be implemented via API and Terraform, with a requirement that total allocations equal 100%. Users must have the "Owner" role to create these tags, and changes to percentages will reprocess costs accordingly.
