Vantage Launches Flexible Budget Periods
Blog post from Vantage
Vantage has launched Flexible Budget Periods and a redesigned Budgets interface, enabling customers to set budget cycles ranging from one day to multiple years instead of being limited to calendar months. The feature supports use cases such as daily AI-spend controls, quarterly infrastructure planning, and multi-year tracking of Enterprise Discount Program commitments, with users selecting a start date, interval length, and budget amounts for successive periods. The updated interface provides searchable, filterable budget views, current-period performance, forecasts, utilization, variance, budget-versus-spend charts, integrated alerts, and hierarchical rollups that identify child budgets at risk or over budget. Existing monthly budgets and alerts remain unchanged unless edited, while hierarchical budgets inherit matching periods from their child budgets. Flexible periods can also be configured through CSV uploads, the API, Terraform, and Vantage MCP or FinOps agent tools, subject to retention-window limits for month- and year-based intervals; however, a budget’s period length cannot be changed after it has started, requiring a new budget for a different cadence.
