Vantage Launches AWS Database Savings Plans Recommendations and FinOps Agent Support
Blog post from Vantage
Vantage has introduced support for AWS Database Savings Plans (DBSPs) within its platform, allowing users to identify under-committed database workloads and receive tailored recommendations for cost savings. This new feature, announced at AWS re:Invent 2025, extends the flexible commitment model previously used for compute workloads to a range of AWS managed database services, such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and others. DBSPs differ from traditional Reserved Instances by offering savings across various instance types, sizes, engines, and regions, providing up to a 35% cost reduction for serverless workloads. The Vantage FinOps Agent can automate the purchase of these savings plans, optimizing database costs without rigid configurations. Users can analyze their DBSP coverage and savings through Financial Commitment Reports and within Vantage Autopilot, while the platform also accounts for existing savings commitments to avoid double-counting. The service is provided with no additional cost beyond a 5% fee on realized savings when recommendations are implemented via the FinOps Agent.
