Vantage Expands the GitHub Integration with Copilot Costs by User
Blog post from Vantage
Vantage has expanded its GitHub cost integration to allocate GitHub Copilot AI-credit charges by individual user, model, token type, and GitHub cost center, giving FinOps, engineering, and platform teams more detailed visibility while preserving billed totals. Available at no additional charge to Vantage customers using GitHub Enterprise Cloud on github.com, the feature requires installation of a read-only Vantage GitHub Copilot App and enabled Copilot usage metrics. Cost data can be viewed in Vantage Cost Reports alongside other AI tools, grouped or filtered with managed AI tags, assigned through Virtual Tags, and tracked with budgets. Vantage uses GitHub’s per-user billing and usage reports to calculate allocations, proportionally adjusts rare discrepancies so amounts match invoices, leaves unassigned costs unattributed, and does not expose token counts as usage or collect prompts, completions, or code. Copilot seat fees and certain cases involving multiple organizations, more than 1,000 billed users per day, unavailable metrics, or unsupported data-residency enterprises remain at organization-level detail.
