How to see S3 Bucket Request Metrics, Egress, and Costs
Blog post from Vantage
AWS customers often find it challenging to understand the cost structure of Amazon S3 due to its complex billing across storage, request types, and egress, which vary by storage class and region. To address this issue, Vantage has introduced a feature that allows users to enable, configure, and view S3 bucket metrics to better understand their usage and costs. Through the "Request Metrics and Egress" tab on the Vantage platform, users can activate AWS's metric collection and receive detailed reports and visualizations, including charts and cost estimates for different request types like GET, PUT, and POST. This tool aims to help users manage their S3 expenses more effectively by providing insights into their usage patterns, which can lead to cost reductions and a better understanding of potential billing surprises. The platform also offers weekly email reports and plans to enhance the feature with more detailed statistics in the future.
