Give Any Agent a Remote Workspace with One MCP Server

Upstash’s remote MCP server is presented as a way to extend existing AI agents with secure, sandboxed development workspaces that can access selected GitHub repositories, a shell, browser automation, public preview URLs, file storage, and Upstash services including Redis, QStash, Vector, Search, Blob, and Box. Users can connect compatible agents through a single MCP endpoint or install an Upstash plugin for Claude Code, authorize access through OAuth, and grant the Upstash GitHub App permission to specific repositories without sharing GitHub tokens. Each task can run in an isolated Box container that clones code, builds and tests changes, uses headless Chromium for screenshots, exposes applications through public URLs, and opens pull requests with supporting evidence. The approach is intended to let local agents offload multiple resource-intensive tasks from a laptop while giving browser-based or otherwise remote agents access to a full coding environment. Upstash reports using the system from a Claude web chat to implement three Redis-related features across four repositories, resulting in twelve pull requests without requiring local cloning, builds, or installations.
