Why Tyk gives every member of its team a personal development coach
Blog post from Tyk
Tyk has implemented a unique personal development initiative by partnering with Ultimate Contribution Uncovered (UCU) to offer a 12-week one-on-one coaching program for its employees, known as Tyklings, to explore what is most meaningful to them both personally and professionally. This approach is part of Tyk's commitment to balancing personal and career development, which is believed to enhance employee happiness, retention, and alignment with business goals. The program has shown positive results, with high percentages of participants gaining clarity, confidence, and empowerment. Tyk's COO, James Hirst, underscores the importance of this initiative as it aligns with the company's remote-first ethos and focus on employee well-being, even at the risk of employees realizing that their future may lie elsewhere. The initiative is supported by an internal coaching and mentoring program, where 10% of employees are trained as coaches and mentors to foster personal growth and collaboration within the company, aiding in the overall development of both the individuals and the organization.
