Tyk AI Studio 2.2 is GA (and it’s mostly about the boring bits)
Blog post from Tyk
Tyk AI Studio 2.2 is generally available, introducing centralized governance for AI models, tools, and MCP servers through a single OpenAI-compatible gateway endpoint that supports multiple vendors, model failover, budgets, guardrails, and analytics. The release adds semantic routing to select models based on prompt content, semantic caching for similar requests, configurable guardrails for credentials, personal data, prompt injection, and external safety services, plus governance features including role-based access controls, append-only audit logs, required asset ownership and risk metadata, team spending limits, and approval workflows. Its MCP integration places approved servers in the AI Portal catalog while keeping traffic routed through the gateway, and the updated chat interface supports human approval of client-tool actions and generative tables or charts. Tyk also reports major microgateway performance improvements, strengthened security and vendor conformance testing, and several upgrade considerations involving zero-value budgets, metrics authentication, tool access defaults, and synchronized control-plane and microgateway updates.
