Two ways to deal with NGINX killing its Ingress Controller
Blog post from Tyk
NGINX is set to deprecate its Ingress Controller from March 2026, ceasing further releases, bug fixes, and security updates, which necessitates users to seek alternatives for managing their Kubernetes API traffic. Tyk offers two primary solutions: a quick migration by replacing the NGINX Ingress Controller with Tyk's Ingress mode, allowing users to retain their Ingress YAML and change the Ingress class while deploying Tyk Gateway and Tyk Operator; or a more comprehensive upgrade by using Custom Resource Definitions (CRD) with Tyk Gateway to define API Proxies, which enhances security, governance, scalability, and analytics capabilities. This transition not only addresses the immediate need for a replacement but also provides an opportunity to build a more robust, future-ready API platform.
