Delivering performance with version 1.7.1
Blog post from Tyk
Tyk version 1.7.1 has significantly improved its performance, making it competitive with other API gateways, with the ability to handle over 1000 requests per second on more affordable hardware. The benchmarks, conducted on a smaller 2-core machine using three Digital Ocean servers, demonstrated that Tyk could achieve an average of 929 requests per second with a latency of 28ms, leading to approximately 82,855,440 hits per day at a cost of just 3 cents per hour. These results highlight a major performance and stability enhancement for Tyk, as well as its capability to efficiently manage high network traffic with minimal errors and timeouts. The test setup involved optimizing system limits and configuring Tyk with Redis and MongoDB to ensure optimal performance, while the latency overhead was primarily attributed to network latency rather than software issues. Overall, this release marks a substantial advancement for Tyk in terms of cost-effective performance and reliability for API management.
