At the recent Yahoo! Hack U event held at the University of Michigan Department of Computer Science and Engineering, three Ph.D. students successfully built a Twilio application that enables users to receive their Yahoo! email messages over phone in under 24 hours. The y!vMail application allows users to listen to and interact with email messages by calling anyone from their stored contact list, summarizing long messages using keywords, and navigating through messages like voicemails. The students' innovative solution showcases a complex web-telephony integration idea implemented into a working prototype, solving an important business problem, and sparking interest in the potential for entrepreneurship.
