Twilio.org has provided over $5M in funding to nonprofits through its Digital Innovation grant initiative, aiming to bolster their technical capacity and alleviate challenges such as lack of talent and budget constraints. The grants are designed to be flexible and fast, with rolling funding decisions, to support costs ranging from personnel to technology infrastructure. This funding model allows nonprofits to experiment with new models of service delivery and can lead to follow-on funding from governments, foundations, and individual donors once they achieve product market fit. Four grant recipients, including Empower Work, the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project, Polaris, and HERA Digital Health, have made significant impacts through digital engagement, such as providing support to marginalized workers, connecting asylum seekers with resources, optimizing a human trafficking hotline, and connecting refugees to healthcare services in their host communities. Twilio.org invites social impact organizations to sign up for the Impact Access Program to receive product credits, exclusive discounts, and additional support.
