Today at SIGNAL, we launched Programmable Wireless, a Twilio SIM card with cellular communications capabilities, allowing developers to program every call, text and data packet that interacts with IoT or Enterprise devices. The product offers LTE data connectivity through the T-Mobile network in the US, as well as voice and SMS via the existing Twilio API. It also provides an API for programmatically ordering and managing SIM cards, a machine-to-machine Commands API, and a pricing model optimized for large deployments of low-bandwidth devices. Programmable Wireless is designed to make cellular accessible to developers, offering an IoT-specific pricing plan that makes it economical for low-usage devices. The product aims to bring cloud communications power to every cellular-connected device, enabling IT teams to enforce business rules and create customized communication flows.
