Emergency Calling is now available for SIP Trunking in Twilio's account portal, allowing users to route 911 calls to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and programmatically pass along their address and callback number. This feature enables instant connectivity for US/Canada, with instant provisioning of E911 address details for localized emergency calling. Users can configure Emergency Calling from the numbers tab of their SIP Trunk, inputting the address associated with a phone number and enabling the service. The nationwide emergency services architecture is complex, involving nearly 6000 PSAPs across the US, but Twilio uses its address-providing capabilities to route calls to the appropriate PSAP whenever possible.
