Twilio has announced the introduction of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) from Twilio, a new capability that allows companies to receive incoming calls by connecting Twilio to their existing SIP infrastructure. This enables companies to quickly modify their communications processes using web programming languages of their choice and shorten development cycles required for software updates and hardware changes. With this new feature, companies can extend the life of their existing SIP infrastructure, bring new communications capabilities to their networks, and transition their application logic to the cloud without updating or reconfiguring hardware. Companies such as RealPage and Corvisa have already adopted this feature, seeing benefits in leveraging existing investments and cost savings.
