From beta to 3.0: Trigger.dev v3 reaches GA
Blog post from Trigger.dev
Trigger.dev v3 is now generally available, offering a reimagined platform for managing background jobs without timeouts. This version introduces a new serverless runtime specifically designed for long-running tasks, eliminating resource waste and simplifying task orchestration. The platform features a queueing and scheduling system for dynamic task management and is multi-tenant ready, allowing for tenant-specific concurrency limits and scheduling. Open-source and powered by OpenTelemetry, Trigger.dev v3 provides real-time visibility into task execution with enhanced logging and tracing capabilities. The latest release includes a revamped build system that bundles dependencies by default, supports multiple runtimes including Bun, and allows for the addition of custom build extensions. Other improvements involve faster deployment processes, support for ESM builds, and enhanced self-hosting capabilities. Users can easily upgrade from previous versions, with a migration guide available for those moving from v2, which is set to reach end-of-life by January 2025.
