Salesforce Flow Testing With AI Agents
Blog post from TestMu AI
Salesforce Flow testing combines native tools for validating automation logic with browser-based testing for confirming what users actually experience in Lightning. Flow Test Mode, currently beta, supports reusable assertion-based tests for record-triggered, autolaunched, and Data Cloud-triggered flows using isolated data and mocked outputs, while Agentforce for Flow can generate and run proposed success, fault, and edge-case scenarios after review. However, these native tests do not cover screen flows, asynchronous or scheduled paths, post-commit effects such as emails, or the combined impact of other automation, permissions, layouts, queues, and list views. The Flow Builder debugger remains useful for unsupported flow types and scheduled-path logic, though it can make real changes unless rollback mode is selected, while Time-Based Automations can verify whether scheduled work was queued, canceled, or rescheduled. The guide recommends supplementing native tests with an AI browser-testing agent, such as TestMu AI’s Kane CLI, which executes plain-language scenarios in a real sandbox browser to check record-page fields, ownership, tasks, queue views, and user-visible outcomes. It advises testing every logic path before deployment, reviewing AI-generated assertions carefully, using Apex tests for bulk or complex related-record behavior, and running browser regression tests after sandbox deployments and Salesforce seasonal releases.
