Mobile Automation in Kane CLI: iOS and Android Runs
Blog post from TestMu AI
Kane CLI extends its plain-English, agent-driven web testing workflow to mobile apps by running objectives on iOS Simulators and Android Emulators, with mobile support introduced in version 0.8.1 and fully integrated in version 0.8.7 through device resolution and per-step evidence capture. Users provide an iOS app bundle archive or Android APK, select a simulator or emulator by device name and OS version, and Kane CLI boots the virtual device, installs the app, handles native and WebView content, and evaluates the requested outcome without requiring manual device control. Mobile testing requires macOS on Apple Silicon, Xcode 16 or later for iOS, or an arm64-v8a Android Virtual Device, while real-device testing is offered separately through TestMu AI’s device cloud. A diagnostic command installs or checks Kane-managed testing tooling, and completed runs generate local sealed evidence packs containing annotated screenshots, network logs, console output, failure records, device details, and mobile device logs. Unlike desktop runs, which export Playwright code, mobile runs support Appium Python export only, and configured device information is retained for repeatable test replays.
