Introducing Thunder: Load Tests From What You Already Have
Blog post from TestMu AI
Thunder by TestMu AI is a free beta Chrome extension that converts browser recordings, API specifications, Postman collections, cURL commands, spreadsheets, URL lists, existing JMeter files, or TestMu AI Selenium sessions into correlated JMeter and k6 load tests, then validates them through a one-user browser replay before optionally running them on the HyperExecute cloud platform. Its central feature is automatic correlation of dynamic session values such as CSRF tokens, JWTs, OAuth codes, cart IDs, and order IDs, with reported rules and confidence levels intended to make generated scripts reviewable. The product claims benchmark results in which it correlated all eight planted dynamic values in a synthetic recording while BlazeMeter’s free HAR converter correlated none, although it also acknowledges low-confidence matches and other beta limitations. Thunder produces JMeter, k6, HAR, and optionally Playwright outputs, supports editing and preflight checks, and keeps recording authoring in the browser through WebAssembly unless users choose to upload plans to HyperExecute. It requires a signed-in TestMu AI account, runs only on Chromium-based browsers, is installed manually from GitHub rather than the Chrome Web Store, and has limitations involving browser support, certain session types, reporting, shared-login behavior, and unsupported steps in k6 exports.
